In our descriptive material we speak of Fine Art and Interactive Art. What do we mean by that? Here's one way to look at it: Fine Art does something to or for you internally, but you don't get to do something back to it. Interactive art, on the other hand, asks that you do something to it externally, and when you do, it gives you a physical reaction in return.
Our Interactive Art is designed to be touched and manually manipulated. It informs you
through different channels than does Fine Art. The latter is like a performance or a statement
from a podium, whereas the former is like a 2-way discussion through which you come to
conclusions about reality. You can think of these two modes of experience as invoking body and
spirit, respectively.
Westerners have traditionally considered "body" and "spirit" to be irreconcilable realms. That's not our belief, however. We understand them to be different aspects of the whole, and have
commingled them at Mindport in order to suggest that art is as fully a legitimate and important
perspective on reality as science, and that the scientific worldview, unleavened by esthetic and
human consideration, exerts a destructive influence on human affairs.
Mindport presents a mix of science and art, technique and expression, blending physical and spiritual modes of understanding the world. Whether you just want to look, or would rather get
physically involved, Mindport has something to offer you. We hope you enjoy your experience
here.
